Organizer Sultan Mahmood says as part of the initiative they’ll be knocking on doors Sunday and giving out flyers that contain the true message of Islam.
“Islam means peace, and we stand for peace,” explains Mahmood. “Anyone trying to damage the image of Islam is not good for Muslims and we condemn any such activities.”
The event comes as tensions rise over the Boston Marathon bombings, but Mahmood says the Muslims for Peace campaign is not a direct response to that.
He says it’s something they do regularly.
