Calgary transit to undergo security upgrade

Calgary Transit is giving its bus fleet a major security makeover.

The city says it’s looking for companies to supply and install new camera technology on 1,000 buses in the next three years.

The move is expected to cost between $1-million and $3-million.

The Calgary Sun reports the new cameras will have clearer images and film on a continuous loop.

Manager of Operations, Jim Ryan, says the cameras will be able to support accident or incident claims and provide evidence for police and bylaw officers.
