Rain will continue in Calgary, getting worse before it gets better

You may be tired of the rain in Calgary, but Mother Nature isn’t.
A low pressure system is gradually moving its way through southern Alberta and bringing with it lots of wet weather.
A rainfall warning remains in effect for Calgary and surrounding areas, including Okotoks, High River, Airdrie and Cochrane.
Calgary will see 50-60 millimetres of rain with 100 millimetres expected to fall in the Foothills area.
Meteorologist David Spence says most of the rain will fall late Wednesday afternoon.
“Right up until about 2 or 3 o’clock (Wednesday) afternoon we’ll deal with some light rain or some showers and then it will really start to fire up,” he says. “The heaviest rain will fall between 3 o’clock this afternoon and about 6 o’clock (Thursday) morning.”
He says June is the city’s rainiest month and it’s not uncommon for weather systems with heavy rain to make their way through southern Alberta.
Be prepared for flooding in some areas as the rain mixes with snow in the foothills; Spence says there could be rapid rising rivers.
Good news for the weekend though, he says the rain should stop by Thursday afternoon and dry weather is expected both Saturday and Sunday.
