High River farmers and ranchers dealing with flooding

Many farmers and ranchers outside High River are trying to deal with any losses suffered in the flooding there.
Dave Plett, the president and CEO of Western Feed Lots says they’ve lost some valuable pasture land adjacent to the Highwood River upstream of High River by about 3 miles.
He says they are also still trying to determine how many cattle were lost and displaced as well but the families living along the river have also been affected. “We had people living not far from the river, they’ll have to be relocated. As is normal for people along the river you can lose real estate” Plett says.
He says this has been one of the most aggressive and rapidly flowing river upsurges anyone there has witnessed in living memory.
He adds, the river meanders in the bottom of the valley and this year it consumed at least 40 acres on just one side of the river.
