Beltline communities still waiting for power

Residents in the beltline will have to wait a little longer before their power is restored.
Alderman John Mar confirming on his Twitter page late Wednesday night that due to safety concerns, Enmax would not be turning the power back on in those communities until early Thursday morning.
Enmax crews have been working hard to restore power to those still in the dark including Cliff Bungalow, Mission, East Village and Elbow Park.
Residents in Beltline, Victoria Park, Erlton, Riverdale, Ogden, Bonnybrook, Rideau, Roxboro and Stanley Park are the latest to get power back.
Meanwhile, at a briefing late Wednesday afternoon, Mayor Naheed Nenshi says the city is now re-evaluating evacuated homes and expect there will be houses that need to be condemned.
He says he can’t put a ballpark figure on the amount of homes damaged but did acknowledge it will be in the thousands.
The mayor spent some time thanking the thousands of volunteers helping out friends family and complete strangers in the communities around the city.
He did note the dangers of helping out in some floodwater soaked homes, saying there is essential safety equipment at every Community Support Centre.
Nenshi also says to try to stay outside of the downtown core if possible but if you need to be there, avoid parking in the areas where emergency officials need to find their way through.
The mayor also announcing starting Thursday, everyone in the core will have to pay for parking once again, but spots will be hard to come by as only 55 per cent of the stalls are available in the downtown.
Nenshi asking people to take transit, bike, walk or stay home if you can.
The city’s next update is scheduled for 6:30 Thursday morning.
