Taskforce set up in Sunnyside for clean-up

A taskforce has been set up in Sunnyside to assess homes ravaged by floodwaters.

More than 30 homeowners were affected by heavy rainfall on Friday, many already cleaning up from last month’s flood.

ENMAX and ATCO crews are knocking on doors in the northwest community, making sure residents have the manpower to pump the water out of their basements.

According to The Calgary Herald, Dan Limacher, city director of water services, said flash floods happened for a number of reasons.

The Bow River is still flowing at twice its normal rate and the ground is still saturated, so rainwater can’t drain into the river.
