Crews put out fire at YYC

There was a little early morning excitement at Calgary International Airport.

Around 4 a.m. Monday, crews were called to put out a fire that broke out on an auxiliary power unit, providing power to a plane on the tarmac.

“The plane at the time was empty, it was being stored for the night, and it was well away from the terminal, so, there was no risk of danger to anybody,” Fire Battalion Chief John Cherweniuk says.

The fire was quickly put out, and the oil and diesel fuel that spilled was mopped up.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
