Museum offers reward for historic missing helmet

A reward is being offered to recover a piece of Calgary’s history.

The Firefighters Museum of Calgary says a helmet belonging to legendary Fire Chief James “Cappy” Smart has been missing for around two decades.

Curator Rebecca Melenka tells The Calgary Sun, they are prepared to give $500 and amnesty to the person who returns it.

Smart was elected the city’s Fire Chief in 1899, and served as Calgary Stampede parade marshal for a record 35 years.
