Clean-up is underway after a dramatic crash in the northwest community of Arbour Lake.
It all started when the driver of an SUV lost control and hit a house, and it ended with a two alarm blaze.
Around 11 p.m. Wednesday, the driver of a Ford Explorer made contact with the first home on Arbour Meadows Close.
His car sheared off the home’s veranda; the vehicle then struck a second home.
It was the flying debris that hit a third house, and ruptured a nearby gas metre.
Fire crews say this blaze was particularly challenging, because of the burning natural gas.
During the ordeal, only the driver was taken to hospital; he sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
The homeowners all managed to escape unharmed.
One man tells 660News he slept through the entire thing, and woke up to banging on his front door after his family had already evacuated.
Police say it’s too soon to discuss charges, but the traffic unit is investigating.
