First phase of Calgary zoo set to re-open

The Calgary Zoo will begin slowly re-opening on Wednesday after severe flooding took a toll on the facility.

Prehistoric Park, the Canadian Wilds exhibit and Penguin Plunge will be open to the public on July 31st.

Admission has also been slashed in half to $10.

The zoo is still in the middle of extensive flood clean-up after floodwaters caused an estimated $50-million worth of damage.

Hundreds of staff were laid off, and two exhibits including the South American building and the Australia building have had to be scrapped.
