Attack that left man dead believed not to be random

Calgary police believe a downtown attack that left one person dead was not random.

One man suffered slash wounds to his neck and face at Olympic Plaza late Friday night.

Someone called 911 around 10:30 p.m. reporting a melee had broken out, and one person had been injured.

EMS responded and declared him dead on scene.

Police confirm they have one person in custody and have declared him to be a person of interest in the case.

Investigators believe they have the proper person in custody, and charges could come sometime Saturday.

They say the man in custody was not injured.

Police would not confirm whether a weapon was recovered.
