Blue-green algae advisory issued for two more lakes

Blue-green algae bloom has been spotted in two more Alberta lakes prompting a warning from Alberta Health Services.

This time it’s for Cochrane Lake just north of Cochrane and Severn Lake, east of Calgary.

Residents should not drink the water even after boiling it, nor swim or wade into it.

Pets should be kept out of it as well.

Blue-green algae produces a toxin that can cause serious illness to animals and humans who drink or have skin contact with the poison.

Earlier this week, AHS put out a similar warning for Eagle Lake, also east of the city.
