Alberta RCMP says they’re impressed with good driver behaviour over the long weekend.
In the entire province, 4642 tickets were issued, but police say that’s comparable to previous years.
Over 3300 speeders were nabbed in the province, and 172 impaired drivers were pulled over.
Strathcona RCMP Cpl. Chris Little says there will always be some people who break the rules, but it’s nice when that number is low.
“What we try to do is be diligent out there to make things safe for the law abiding people that are following all the rules of the road, and our attempt is to keep in check the small percentage out there that seem to flaunt that,” he says.
RCMP are happy there were no tragic collisions on Alberta’s roadways over the weekend, even with heavy volumes of traffic, and that drivers seem to be getting the message.
