Cuts coming to convict wages

The federal government is giving inmates a bit of a break when it comes to wages.

Plans for a cut in wages for prisoners who work in penitentiary programs have been deferred until April 2013.

The reduction was originally supposed to take effect this fall.

The John Howard Society is still fighting to reverse the decision.

The society said the pay cut hurts inmates about to be released or those who send money to their families.
