Volunteers return for Flood Aid cleanup

Organizers of Thursday night’s Alberta Flood Aid concert were a little concerned before the show that there might not be enough help Friday to clean up after the party for 32,000.
But when the sun came out in the morning at McMahon Stadium, so too did the volunteers.
Dozens showed up with their work gloves on to clean up the mess and list the flooring off the field.
Show producer Peter Jurisic is overwhelmed by the turnout and the volunteer support.
“A lot of times it’s either a Calgary thing or Albertan thing and I’ve been saying for days it’s a Canadian thing,” he said. “A number of people are here from Toronto and helping out the production and sorry Toronto, they said this would never happen in Toronto.”
McMahon’s Assistant Manager Don Phelps admitted he was a little worried there wouldn’t be enough hands on deck.
“We just wondered out loud, what are going to see Friday morning when the show is over and the energy is gone, but I take my hat off to this group of people, these 25, almost 30 people here that are volunteering to pick the flow up,” he said.
Thanks to the help of professionals and volunteers, all traces of Flood Aid will be gone by the day’s end and McMahon Stadium will be ready for the University of Calgary Dinos football camp Saturday morning.
