Charges upgraded in Evanston double homicide

A man accused of killing a mother and son in their northwest home is now charged with first degree murder.

Wilson Clorina appeared in court Thursday, where the crown upgraded the 26-year-old’s charges from second degree murder.

The Calgary Sun reports if Clorina is convicted he could face automatic life in prison without eligibility for parole for 25 years.

The bodies of Chona Manzano and her five-year-old son were found in separate rooms of their Evanspark Circle home with stab wounds back in May.

The case is adjourned until September 19th.
