Finance minister to provide fiscal update

We’ll get a better idea of the financial impact of June’s flood as the province releases its first-quarter fiscal update.

Alberta Finance Minister Doug Horner will be speaking Thursday morning in Edmonton.

Horner remains upbeat about the update, the first since June’s devastation.

He tells The Calgary Herald revenue will be higher than expected in the spring budget and a nearly $2-billion deficit will be smaller.

Premier Alison Redford has pegged the cost of flood recovery at $5-billion.
