Students heading back to class

Kids across the city are seeing their summer of playing with friends, going to amusement parks and going on family trips finally come to an end.
Close to 150,000 students are heading back to school Tuesday, some for the very first time.
It can be a nerve-racking time for kids to return to the classroom.
While many say they’re looking forward to seeing their friends, others aren’t as thrilled to get back to their desks.
John is going into Grade 5, and while he’s excited, he admits he’s nervous about one thing.
“To see if I’ll meet anyone new and they won’t like me,” he says.
Mary is being brave; she’s going into Grade 2, while her little sister is starting Kindergarten.
She says she’ll be protecting little Annie.
“Well, I won’t see her that much, but I’m going to help her,” she says.
The new school year also means the return of school zone speed limits.
They kick off at 7:30 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.
Those who live near a school can expect some heavy enforcement of the zones for the first week; speeders ripping through the zones could face a hefty ticket, and have to live with it on their record for about five years.
Police say the big fear is that little ones might get excited, forget the rules of the road, and run into traffic.
Another big problem for officers is parents who double-park or jaywalk.
Police are asking everyone to do their part to slow down and watch for pedestrians.
