Convicted murderer wants new trial

A man convicted of first degree murder in the death of Calgary teen Adam Cavanaugh wants a new trial.
The 17-year-old was shot in the head through a basement window in February of 2007.
The man charged with the murder, now 22-years-old, was sentenced to life imprisonment with no chance of parole for 10 years — the judge calling the crime an “execution.”
However, the accused testified he only intended to beat up Cavanaugh and that someone else, Salim Kaddoura, was the shooter.
Kaddoura was arrested in Toronto earlier this summer, and charged with accessory to murder after the fact.
