XL Foods class action suit approved

A $10-million class action lawsuit against XL Foods will go ahead.

A judge has ruled those suing the Alberta meat packer for a E.coli outbreak in 2012, can now do so as a group, rather than individually.

The Calgary Herald reports, more than 200 plaintiffs from across Canada are taking part and there will likely be more who come forward.

At least 18 people became sick after meat processed at the XL Foods facility tested positive for E.coli.

The case is unlikely to reach the courts until 2015.
