Heads up if you’re planning a hiking trip to K-Country this long weekend.
One area is closed because grizzly bears were busy feeding on a carcass, trying to fatten up before taking to their den to hibernate.
The area around the Bateman Creek gravel pit, south of Highway 68, near the Sibbald Viewpoint day use area is also off-limit for humans.
Remember, if you’re using trails in the foothills and mountain areas frequented by wildlife to travel in groups of at least four, and pack bear spray.
