Gas line break leads to evacuation

People living in a condo complex on Hemlock Crescent in Calgary’s southwest had to spend their lunch outside.

The fire department raced to the area after construction crews damaged a gas line in the building.

Even though the main gas line was turned off before firefighters arrived, people in 36 units were told to get out.

Before residents were allowed back in, each and every unit had to be properly ventilated.
