A new report says Alberta Health Services violated the Health Information Act during a fire last year.
The blaze at the Shaw Court Building in July of 2012 knocked out key computer services and put Albertans’ health information at risk.
A report from the office of the information and privacy commissioner says AHS did not have a comprehensive plan in place to respond to system outages.
The findings also say employees did not know what to do in the face of “a critical systems outage.”
The privacy commissioner has made several recommendations that will allow AHS to have a better plan in place in case of another emergency.
