Calgary Police Commission Chair to step down

After four years on the job, Mike Shaikh, the Calgary Police Commission chair will be stepping down.

In the announcement Tuesday afternoon, Shaikh says he is proud of the accomplishments the commission has seen: “Against crime, but also going after the root cause of the crime; i.e. crime prevention, early intervention and education.”

Shaikh will officially end his term as chair on Thursday with a new chair to be elected at the next commission meeting.

The organization provides civilian oversight to the Calgary Police Service.
