Drugged-fueled car prowlers caught in Airdrie

Two men from Calgary have been charged in connection to car prowlings in Airdrie.

RCMP got a call from someone in the community of Ravenswood early Thursday morning, who saw a suspicious person in their neighbour’s vehicle, and then saw the suspect break into other vehicles parked in the area.

They arrested one man at the scene and then picked up another suspect in the back seat of a parked vehicle.

Staff Sergeant Gordon Sage tells 660News, Airdrie has been the target of thieves lately who have been getting into homes by stealing garage door openers out of cars.

“People who are under the influence of drugs that have come out from the city of Calgary, and are preying on the people in Airdrie.”

“We’ve been very proactive, by putting out extra patrols,” he says.  “They’re paying off. Last week we did catch somebody going through cars as well. We successfully tracked them and arrested them.”

Sage says both men in Thursday’s car prowlings appeared to be high on drugs at the time of the crimes.
