Trans-Canada reopens both ways between Strathmore & Brooks

The Trans-Canada Highway has fully reopened in both directions between Strathmore and Brooks.

RCMP do say, though, road and weather conditions are still poor, so drive with caution and travel with emergency supplies.

This follows police giving the go ahead for travel again along the stretch between Strathmore and Calgary Tuesday morning.

The portion of the route east of Strathmore was a problem on Tuesday afternoon because crews needed to clear all the stranded vehicles.

An overturned semi also had to have all its cargo unloaded before it could be towed away.

There were long lines of transport trucks stacked up on both sides of the highway, but Cst. Tyler Griffiths with Strathmore RCMP tells 660News, it didn’t take long until they were on their way.

According to 5-1-1, Highway 9 from Highway 21 to Drumheller northeast of the city has also reopened.
