Province set to announce expansion for immunization program

The province is set to announce the expansion of an immunization program for school aged children.
Health Minister Fred Horne and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. James Talbot are set to make the announcement at 9:30 Thursday morning in Edmonton.
As the result of immunization programs, vaccine-preventable diseases cause less than five per cent of all deaths in Canada.
In Alberta’s Immunization Strategy, the province listed some reasons as to why people are not getting immunized they include accessibility and inadequate information about immunization.
