Alberta among coldest temperature on planet

Anyone who spent time outdoors in Alberta Friday will likely confirm that the province was one of the coldest places in the world.

At one point the province also boasted the absolute coldest place on the planet.

Up the road from Grand Prairie, about 250 km, the town of Manning, Alberta reached – 39.8 degrees, before wind-chill.

660News Meteorologist David Spence said its parts of the same weather system bring temperatures down in Calgary.

“It extends from Alberta southeast towards Iowa and within that cold air, the coldest of the cold is right over Alberta,” said Spence,

The province was even colder than the Arctic Friday with some areas showing temperatures in the -10 and -15 degree range.

In Calgary the temperatures reached the high – 20s.
