Man dies after falling into tree well at Whistler

A 63-year-old man is dead after falling into a tree well while skiing in Whistler.

The incident happened around 11:15 Saturday morning.

Officials say many people tried to resuscitate him before paramedics arrived, but he was pronounced dead inside an ambulance.

The man is not being identified.

A safety warning is being issued to always ski in pairs.

The heavy amounts of snow they’ve seen lately can cause tree wells to develop, and can be very dangerous for skiers who fall in head first and become stuck.
