Cold weather had Americans looking for love

The extreme cold that grounded thousands of North American flights last week seems to have left many Americans in the mood for love.

U.S. dating site “Zoosk” says it saw a 48 per cent increase in memberships and a 28 per cent spike in messages sent during the deep freeze.

The biggest increases occurred in the cities hardest hit by the polar vortex including Portland, Chicago, New York, Boston and Minneapolis.

However, the dating site wasn’t able to offer any statistics on the success rate of any new of the new memberships.
