AHS to make changes at McKenzie Towne care facility following complaints

Alberta Health Services has completed a review at McKenzie Towne Care Centre following several complaints at the continuing care facility.

It’s implementing a number of changes including a new computer program to track wounds and ensure residents are properly assessed to get the treatment they require.

AHS wound specialists will also continue to visit the site every week.

Brenda Huband, president of zone and health operations with Alberta Health Services, said conducting the review has not been difficult.

“We are working with MnKenzie on the completion of the issues that were identified and likely that will take until March to complete,” said Huband.

Reports came from two families in December, 2013 about deaths of loved ones at the facility after developing severe bed sores.
