The Calgary International Airport continues to break its own records in usage and according to last year’s numbers YYC is also the fastest growing airport in the country.
Jody Moseley, spokesperson with the Calgary Airport Authority, said the airport is bustling with activity due to the demand to fly to different destinations, quality service, a good economy and success in the business community.
She said a number of expansion projects have been completed or are underway to help meet the growth including more warehouse space and a new runway.
“When the runway opens in June it will really just help alleviate the congestion we have now, but it opens the door to even more services coming to Calgary,” said Moseley.
The runway and a new international concourse would be the largest expansion ever at YYC.
Moseley said, in 2013 the airport also increased on-site parking by about 11-htousand stalls.
