It’s bsuiness as usual after a security breach inside Calgary International Airport Monday night.
It happened just after 10 p.m., when a passenger was reported missing.
Police were called and traffic in and around YYC ground to a halt while the terminal was evacuated.
Julianne was flying into Calgary from Vancouver at the time of the incident.
She, along with others in the cabin were told they would be delayed because someone ‘had reportedly run through security.”
They stayed on the plane for another 15 minutes before they were allowed to disembark.
The group was then ushered with passengers waiting to take off down to the departure level.
“They had to wait a long time before they were allowed back up,” she told 660News.
Julianne admitted it came as a surprise that someone was able to walk past the gate without being caught.
“The group seemed to be waiting quite awhile downstairs,” she said. “I was walking around getting exercise and when I came back they were all still in the same spot.”
Frustrated passengers took to Twitter to vent their frustration at having to wait in line and re-clear.
Those in the terminal said it was a little more than half an hour before things started to move and they could begin to re-clear.
Others like Zac Rendell praised Great coordination by the folks here at #calgary #airport #yyc during the #security #breach.
Several flights were delayed, some longer than four hours, as officials swept the terminal to find the person.
Police told 660News, they are considering this a missing persons case and no charges will be laid.
“The matter has been resolved,” says one Staff Sergeant.
There has been no official word from the airport as to what happened Monday evening.
