Edmonton weighs in on high speed rail idea

A second public meeting gathering feedback on a high speed rail service was held last night in Edmonton.

The province is looking into a bullet train that would carry passengers between Calgary, Red Deer, and Alberta’s capital.

Input sessions were also held in Cowtown and Red Deer this week, with the response mostly positive.

The cost of the service is being estimated at anywhere from $3-billion-$20-billion, based on data from a 2009 study.

It’s not clear yet how the project would be funded.
