Mayor wanted budget to be more long term

Calgary’s mayor has mixed feelings about this budget.

The city will receive about $7-million more for infrastructure.

Mayor Nenshi say more money invested into the city for capital projects is great, but funding for the province needs to planned out further.

“To build a new waste water treatment plant or to renovate one, to build a line on the LRT these are things we have to finance over time and we cannot finance them over time if we have constantly fluctuating amounts of money in future years it just makes it impossible to work,” said Nenshi.

Nenshi was pleased with the funding towards housing saying it shows the province is committed to ending homelessness, but much more needs to be done.

Overall Nenshi says this budget sounds a lot like the one that was tabled in 2013.
