Man arrested following suspected dine-and-dash

What appears to have started as a dine-and-dash in Southwest Calgary has resulted in the arrest of a man for a string of dangerous incidents.
Police Sgt. Thor Bahl said it started at an establishment in the 1900 Block of Southland Drive just after 9 p.m. Friday.
“He went into his vehicle, drove away from the establishment striking several parked cars, then moved out to Southland Drive and then was involved in another vehicle accident whereby he struck a tow truck that was assisting a motorist, fled that scene, only to come back a short time later,” said Bahl.
Firefighters unsuccessfully tried to wave the driver down.
He was then cornered in the parking lot by passersby’s who slashed his tires.
Bahl said that is when the man took off on foot only to be found and arrested a short time later.
No one was injured but investigators are looking into if alcohol was a factor.
