Carbon monoxide scare at a seniors home

Approximately 60 seniors can return home after a carbon monoxide scare Tuesday.

Fire crews were called to the seniors home in the 2900 block of 26th Avenue S.E. at around 5 a.m..

Carol Henke, spokesperson with the Calgary Fire Department, said they found traces of the deadly carbon monoxide in the building that could have caused damage in the long term.

“They didn’t need to evacuate the residents outside, they did find an area of the building that had levels of zero,” she said.

Henke said they found the source of the leak, a roof top make-up air vent unit.

There were no injuries and the seniors are now able to return to their rooms.
