A miner has died after an incident at Teck Coal near Sparwood, B.C.
Nic Milligan with the company tells 660News it happened in the wee hours on Sunday.
“We’re very sad to report that a serious incident occurred at 2 a.m. Sunday morning at our Coal Mountain Operation that resulted in the death of a 59 year-old employee. We certainly wish to extend our sincere condolences to the employee’s family, his friends and of course his co-workers at the operations,” says Milligan.
Since the accident is being investigated by the B.C. Ministry of Energy and Mines, he says he can’t release any further details.
Counselling is being offered to employees.
