New device aims to cut down road rage

There could soon be a way for your car to stop you from flying off the handle.

European scientists are testing an in-car device that reads facial expressions to prevent road rage.

An infrared camera placed behind the steering wheel will film the driver’s face and there will be dashboard emotion detectors to search for signs of irritation.

The team is also working on a system to gauge driver fatigue by monitoring eyelid closure, which could prevent people from falling asleep at the wheel.
