Van hits power pole

A tense situation for one driver Wednesday evening.
Calgary fire crews were called to a van vs. pole collision on 42nd Avenue near Highfield Road, S.E. shortly before 6:30 p.m.
The van had sheared off the pole, which caused the live wires to land on the vehicle.
Firefighters told the driver to stay in the van until the power was cut; Enmax was able to shut off the electricity and the driver walked away uninjured.
The fire department wants to remind drivers if they find themselves in the same situation, to remain in the vehicle until the power can be shut off.
