Suspicious fire in cemetery chapel

Fire investigators are looking into whether a fire at a small chapel at Union Cemetery was set on purpose.

That appeared to be the case when firefighters arrived Saturday afternoon, after getting a call around 4:30.

Battalion Chief Ernie Molineaux tells 660News, fortunately the crews got there quickly and were able to stuff it out before it caused any real damage.

“There was no damage to the structure whatsoever or any property inside it.  It was just some trash.  It was confined just material burning.”

There were some broken windows in the small chapel but it’s not known yet if that was related to the incident.
