Researchers question use of Tamiflu

Independent researchers are questioning the effectiveness of Tamiflu.

The Cochrane Collaboration, a non profit research network, looked at clinical trials of the anti-viral drug, and found it did not reduce the risk of complications or having to go to the hospital.

One of the authors claims, it reduces sumpyoms by half a day, but is otherwise useless.

The Globe and Mail reports, the research raises questions about whether Canada’s stockpiling of the drug is a wise move.

However, critics maintain the findings only apply to healthy individuals and that Tamiflu is extremely useful in curtailing illness in hospitals and nursing homes.
