Midweek snowstorm produces a flurry of crashes

Calgary police report between 6:00 a.m. Wednesday morning and 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning they responded to 184 crashes with injuries reported in 16 of those wrecks.

Duty Inspector Michael Watterston tells 660News, included in those crashes was a hit and run collision in the southwest.

Just before 8:30 p.m. a 2005 Hyundai Accent travelling eastbound on Anderson road was waiting to turn onto northbound on 14th street, when it was rear-ended.

The impact pushed the vehicle into the intersection where it was struck by a westbound Dodge Durango.

The driver and passenger in the Hyundai were taken to hospital. Both are now listed in stable condition.

Police are looking for a pickup truck that fled the scene anyone who might have witnessed the crash is asked to call police or Crimestoppers.

Meanwhile, an unmarked police cruiser had its front end pushed in after being involved in a head-on crash with a Cadillac, which was trying to flee the dog park off Southland drive.

Duty inspector Watterston said they got a call from a man in Acadia, who reported seeing a Cadillac drive away after hitting his car outside his home.

The man actually got in his vehicle and followed the driver of the Cadillac, alerting police to his whereabouts.

Watterston said the driver of the Cadillac is facing a number of charges including impaired driving.
