Calgary man faces charges after attemped theft

An 18-year-old Calgary man is facing multiple charges related to theft and a concealed weapon.

Marc Powell tried to steal $1,664.99 worth of jeans from Cross Iron Mills.

When employees and security went after him, he sprayed a concealed can of pepper spray.

He took off, flagging down a vehicle, which was later pulled over by Airdie RCMP.

All stolen property was recovered.

Store employees and security personnel were treated for Pepper Spray exposure by Alberta Health Services and released.

Powell’s charged with one count of theft, three counts of assault with a weapon, one count of resisting arrest, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, and one count of possession of weapon dangerous to public.
