Greenwood Village wildfire

Patches of hot spots remain after a grass fire sparked late Wednesday afternoon in the northwest.
Firefighters expected to remain on scene through part of the night and early morning on Thursday to keep an eye on hot spots.
Fire crews were called to an area next to the Greenwood Village mobile home park of about four hectares.
Three engine crews and three bush buggies were brought in to assist. Sustainable Resources brought in a helicopter to air-drop water.
Battalion chief Ernie Molineaux said there were no injuries, nor property damage.
“It was confined to wild land. We didn’t even consider evacuation because the wind was actually taking it away from the mobile home park. Had it switched, we might of had to consider that, but our crews were in place to prevent that from happening” said Molineaux.
Molineaux is reminding Calgarians to be very mindful of their backyard fire pits and cigarette butts as the conditions right now are prime for wildfires.
