Charges laid after credit card manufacturing lab uncovered

It’s a major bust for fraud investigators.
Charges have been laid following a probe into a credit card and identification manufacturing lab.
In January 2014, a financial institution alerted police about higher than normal fraud activity in the Calgary area.
On Friday, April 25, 2014, the economic crimes unit executed a search warrant on a home in the 400 block of Mahogany Terrace S.E.
Inside, police found a hidden room in the basement being used to make credit cards and fake ID’s.
Investigators seized credit card skimming equipment, gas pump overlays, and hundreds of counterfeit credit cards.
They also found a large quantity of the drug MDMA, $16,000 in cash and more than $20,000 in stolen property.
31-year-old Dennis Ranuk of Calgary is charged with possessing instruments for forging or falsifying documents, possession for the purpose of trafficking MDMA, possession of MDMA and proceeds of crime.
30-year-old Roman Garbar of Calgary is charged with possession of instruments for forging or falsifying.
Police continue to investigate and say more charges are pending.
