Seven charged in drugs and weapons bust in the SW

Six men and one woman from Calgary are facing drugs and weapons charges stemming from a reported home invasion in the southwest, but there’s still a lot to figure out.

Late last Wednesday, CPS responded to reports of an invasion in Shawnessy.  Due to the nature of the incident, the CPS Gangs and Guns Unit was called in.

A woman suffered minor injuries in the invasion, believed to have been committed by two suspects with weapons in hand.

There was an early morning traffic stop the next day, where a loaded handgun and cash were seized.

On the evening of May 1st, police executed five search warrants on three homes and two vehicles in Bridlewood, where 2.6 kilograms of marihuana were seized, along with another handgun, body armour and almost $10,000 in cash.

In all, almost $12,000 in cash and $30,000 worth of drugs were seized.

Sgt. Jason Walker said it’s not clear how the invasion led to the traffic stop and bust, as it could’ve been a combination of vehicle and suspect descriptions with other officers being in the right place at the right time.

“That’s one of the pieces we’re trying to put together, that was a spontaneous event, it was no different than someone calls up and says ‘I’ve been robbed’ and we’ve responded to it and now we have to play catch up,” he said.

“Officers uninvolved in any of this, out doing other things, seeing things that are suspicious to them but not quite knowing how to put them in context and then over the radio perhaps comes a call, the home invasion and they go I bet you that’s connected, and they start putting the pieces together.”

The accused include:

-Stephen Gregory Laframboise, 26, has been charged with one count each of trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition, hazardous storage of a firearm, and three breaches of recognizance.

-Kirsten Marie Stolz, 24, has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and one count each of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition and hazardous storage of a firearm.

-Christopher Joel Tetz, 25, has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.

Robert Brian Laframboise, 28, and Thomas William Brown, 25, have been charged with one count each of unsafe transport of a firearm in a motor vehicle, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition.

-Scott Matthew Bobbet, 22, has been charged with one count each of obstruction, identity fraud and utter to deal a forged document.

-Ryan Ronald Little, 32, has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose, and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.

The investigation into the home invasion continues and Walker added it’s possible depending on what’s revealed that more charges could be laid.
