Soak in the sun while you can, because the heavy rainfall is prompting tons of advisories in Alberta.
High streamflow advisories have been called for every river in the Bow basin, including Elbow and Highwood, and a flood watch is in effect for the little Red Deer River.
No major flooding is expected, but minor flooding in low-lying levels is possible.
Jamie Hanlon with Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resources Development said it’s difficult to tell how high some water levels could go since some snowpack hasn’t started melting.
He also said extra staff are standing by.
“We are right now going to be standing up the Flood Response Coordination Centre this weekend in anticipation of any potential flood threats, so we’ll be ready to respond,” he said.
Those hitting the road for the weekend are encouraged to stay tuned to any updates when possible and to be careful around river shores.
In B.C., similar warnings are in place for the southern interior, including the Okanagan, Thompson and Boundary regions.
