From Moncton to Mayerthorpe, tragedy links two communities

The tragedy in Moncton hits home for one central Alberta town.
It was 2005, when a man opened fire and killed four officers near Mayerthorpe.
Kate Patrick is the mayor of the central Alberta town.
She sends her sincerest condolences to the families of the fallen officers.
She said Mayerthorpe knows all too well the impact of these catastrophes.
“Healing the wounds created by this tragedy, they need support and strength offered by family, friends and communities all across Canada” she said.
The shootings in Moncton are just days before the Fallen Four Marathon in Mayerthorpe, honouring the officers killed some nine years ago.
Patrick said they will be once again be running with heavy hearts.
