One of Calgary’s biggest and most renowned festivals will see 53,000 people flock through Prince’s Island starting Thursday night.
The lineups started Thursday morning and the gates open at 4:30 p.m. to kick off the 35th annual Calgary Folk Music Festival.
This 35th edition welcomes 76 artists from 16 countries, performing on eight different stages over the coming days.
Artistic director Kerry Clarke promised another genre defying array of master musicianship on display.
There will also be a free stage at Eau Claire Market, first introduced last year.
“Probably the majority of people that were at the stage were already part of the festival and already bought a ticket, but also people who hadn’t’ bought a ticket got a chance to see what the festival vibe was all about,” she said.
Saturday tickets are sold out, but other tickets are available at the gate or here.
